Have you heard of this news? An
unemployed woman ( staying in Bukit Batok) and her family reportedly paid a man
( an alleged spiritual consultant from Indonesia, who lurks around her flat) $1450 for nine bottles of ‘holy water’ after
being led to believe that it would help them get rid of bad luck & any other
spiritual problems .
The 'holy
water' were contained in transparent plastic bottles. Looks exactly like
those you buy in the super marts. However, things did not improve after drinking
the 'holy water'. Meanwhile this con man continued sending her messages asking
for more money. She asked for a refund & obviously the request was refused
& he even threatened to ‘curse’ her children if she did not pay up. That’s
when she decided to call the police!
You might think, how silly right? But is it really that surprising? These incidents are more common than we expect. Remember the disappearance of a plane from Malaysian Airlines, & how they actually used bomohs & coconuts to try resolve the problem?
We might laugh at them, but just be vigilant that your family would not fall prey to these scumbags. Yup I've been monitoring my mum, aunties & especially my grandma & remind them not to talk to strangers.
